In-Game Setup

The plugin pack contains a great many addons, that can initially be quite overwhelming, especially to novice addon users. This guide will help you get your addons configured, and help you past some of the initial hurdles so that you can begin enjoying your new tools.

NOTE: If you seem to reach a point in this guide where what you see does not match the descriptions given, please visit the Troubleshooting section.

The 5 Minute In-Game Setup Guide

  1. This guide assumes you have completed the installation guide from the previous section that applies to your operating system.
  2. Load WoW, log in with your username and password, but DO NOT enter the game with your character.
  3. Make sure AddOns are enabled.
    1. Click the AddOns button, located at the bottom-left of the character selection screen.
    2. You should see many plugins listed.
    3. Be sure to enable the checkbox at the top labeled Load out of date AddOns.
    4. Players that are not healers should disable the HealBot addon's checkbox.
    5. Players that are not paladins should disable the PallyPower addon's checkbox, but leave PallyPower Info enabled.
    6. Click Ok to save the settings.
  4. Choose a character, and enter the game.
  5. Stop, and take a breath. You will have new windows and information all over your screen. Don't worry, we'll straighten it up.
  6. Switch to windowed mode, instead of fullscreen. You can change this back later, it will just let you have easier access to this guide while using it.
    1. Definition: Chocolate Bars are the thin bars now at the top (and maybe bottom) of the screen, which are added by a plugin called Chocolate Bar Broker Display. Each item on the bar is a seperate plugin for Broker, that are also included in the pack.
    2. Look on your Chocolate Bar for the a small blue circle icon, possibly followed by the word Fullscreen. This is Switcher, and allows you to easily toggle between windowed and fullscreen modes. Windowed mode lets you use the Windows taskbar to quickly switch between WoW and your web browser (or other applications). Being in windowed mode does not change the performance of the game, but if you have a small screen, the smaller window will obviously make things even smaller.
    3. Click on the Switcher to switch to windowed mode. Afte a brief pause while it switches, Switcher should now read Windowed (you may have to mouse over it).
  7. Scale down the user interface to make some room.
    1. Click the Game Menu button on the toolbar, that looks like a computer.
    2. Click the Video button to bring up the video settings panel.
    3. Click Advanced in the left pane.
    4. Place a checkmark in the UI Scale box, and drag the slider to a smaller setting.
    5. Click Okay to save the settings.
    6. Click Return to Game.
  8. Move the chat / combat log up, so that it doesn't get blocked.
    1. Move your mouse to the just above the top of the left hand corner of the chat box, and the tabs will appear.
    2. Right-click the General tab, and select Unlock Window.
    3. Drag the chat box up, by clicking and holding the tab.
    4. Relock the window (the same way you unlocked it).
  9. Next, lets get the Recount window resized and placed neatly in the corner.
    1. Resize the Recount window, so that the heading is visible, by clicking the "grip" in the lower-right corner and dragging it to the right.
    2. Click on the heading of the recount window, and drag it down into the lower left corner of the screen. You may need to resize it again, or move the chat log again, to make it fit well.
  10. Rearrange the Broker plugins on your Chocolate Bars.

You can click-and-drag a Broker plugin from one Chocolate Bar to another; from the top one to the bottom one, or vice versa.  You will also see that if you drag a plugin to the left, middle, or right side of a bar, a red arrow appears indicating that it will be "snapped" to the left, center, or right side area.

Nobody can tell you exactly how best to organize them for you, but here is a screenshot of my top and bottom bars. Keep in mind that I have a widescreen monitor. If you don't have a widescreen monitor, or have your resolution turned way down, you may need to disable some of the plugins to make it all fit nicely. (Click the image to see it at full size.)
    1. Type /cb to open the Chocolate Bars configuration.
    2. On the left side of the panel, click the + next to Bars to expand the category.
    3. Click on the word Bars in the left pane.
    4. Click Create Bar in the right pane. A new, empty bar will appear at the top of the screen.
    5. Choose ChocolateBar2 from the left pane.
    6. Choose Move Down from the right pane, to move the empty bar to the bottom of the screen.
    7. On the left side of the panel, click the + next to Look and Feel to expand the category.
    8. Click In Combat, under the Look and Feel category, in the left pane.
    9. Select Disable Tooltips, Disable Clicking, and Disable Options in the right pane.  Make sure all three are checked/enabled.
    10. If you expand the Plugins category in the left pane, you can access each plugin's settings individually.  You can enable/disable the plugin, and turn off its icon or text visual components.

I recommend disabling the following plugins:
AtlasLootFu, Auc-Util-AutoMagic, Auc-Util-Glypher, Auc-Util-SearchUI, AucAdvanced, BeanCounter, BigWigs, Enchantrix, Gatherer, GearScore, Increasingrate, Informant, Latency (especially if connection issues are not a problem for you), Memoryusage (especially if RAM memory is not a problem for you), MiniPet (especially if you use the MiniPet icon button), MoreChocolate, Omen, Swatter, _NPCScan.Overlay.Broker
    11. Click Close to close the config panel.
    12. Click, hold, and drag the individual plugins around on the bars. The bars will be very full, so be patient, because clicking may be difficult. You can place plugins on the left, center, or right area of any bar.
    13. While dragging any plugin, you will also see 3 icons appear near it: Toggle Text, Align Center, and Disable Plugin. Toggle Text will toggle if the text name of the plugin is displayed, or if just the icon is. Align Center is the same as dragging the plugin to the center of the bar. Disable Plugin removes that plugin from the bar, but will not necessarily turn off the actual plugin functionality (such as Omen), because the buttons are only "launchers" similar to icons on your computer's desktop.
    14. Arrange the raid icon markers in the order Skull-Cross-Square-Moon-Triangle-Diamond-Circle-Star-Blank.
  11. To be continued... Some other things not covered yet:
    1. Rearranging the icons attached around the mini-map
    2. Configuring and placing Omen on the screen
    3. Which plugins are less necessary, and to disable first if some need to be disabled
    4. Scanning AH with Auctioneer
    5. Using AtlasLoot
    6. Using Recount
    7. Using Omen
